Hibernation Arts Fibre ArtOh the good fortune to be an artist and live in Orillia with a thriving arts community and many galleries and shops that support local work. Group shows with themed expressions take place very often throughout the year and provide venues to display emerging artist work.

One such gallery is Hibernation Arts, a shop featuring home décor with international flavour, fibre arts, jewellery and fine art. Gallery owner Molly Farquharson is a maker of all things fibre with expertise as a shop/gallery owner from time living in Turkey.

Molly welcomes visitors to her shop, often with a hot drink and a sit on the sofa to discuss whatever while surrounded by texture and colour. I have had the opportunity to display work in several group shows at this Peter Street gallery with the spring offering ‘About Women’ celebrating International Women’s Day and running throughout March 2019.

My piece ‘She Tracks’ is a watercolour and ink painting and was inspired while experiencing Muskoka in winter

She Tracks watercolour ink nature womens' day“It is amazing where bits of the human form show up. I saw a woman’s shape on the frozen lake at the cottage after the snow machines had retired. Even with more circles and tracks laid down the next day this Snow Woman’s curvy and round image blossomed… Just like this aging woman.”

She Tracks is a watercolour, ink and acrylic painting, 16.5″ x 12″ and is for sale unframed.
